Absolutely. You can set your notification preferences in our Rockgas app or online customer portal when you first sign-up to let us know if you’d prefer text or email or both text & email delivery updates. We send out notifications the night before and morning of delivery.

Or you can email your notification preference or changes to lpgenquiries@rockgas.co.nz with your name, account number, delivery address and contact details. Let us know if you’d prefer text or email or both text & email delivery updates, and we’ll get you sorted within two working days.

We’ll schedule your delivery for the next available day in your area. In winter, please allow a bit of extra time as demand goes up.

If you are using our Rockgas app or online customer portal confirmation of your order will be displayed on the home screen. You can set your notification preferences when you first sign-up to let us know if you’d prefer text or email or both text & email. We send out notifications the night before and morning of delivery.

Colder weather or using more appliances can make your system switch briefly to the reserve bottle, even before the main one shows red. That might mean your reserve bottle starts running low sooner than expected.

To avoid the risk of running out of LPG, we recommend that you regularly check your LPG bottles and place an order as soon as 1 bottle is empty.

We recommend you leave both bottles turned on as this allows good continuity of supply at times where you may need more gas pressure than 1 bottle allows.

When LPG from your second bottle is drawn (to boost the pressure required to run multiple appliances) this does mean that when your primary bottle becomes empty, it is common for the secondary bottle to not be full and not last as long as you would expect.

Just let us know as early as you can. We can help transfer your LPG to your new place or close your account if you don’t need it anymore.

A few extra notes:

• Don’t take the bottles with you – we’ll sort that out.

• If your bottles are picked up and there’s 10kg or more of LPG left, you may get a credit once we weigh them.

• If you’ve prepaid your rental, we’ll credit any unused portion.

Try the warm water trick:

Pour warm (not boiling) water down the side of the bottle. Wait a few seconds, then run your hand down where the water went. The spot that feels cool is where the LPG level sits.

The level of LPG in the full bottle is just over three-quarters of the bottle’s height, which allows for the expansion of the gas inside.

Don’t try and test how much LPG you have by shaking or tapping the bottle, it’s not accurate and you may damage the bottle.

That depends on how much LPG you’re using. If it’s just for cooking, it could last over a year. If you’re using it for hot water and cooking in a family of four, you might get around 4–6 weeks. Every household is different.

Handy tip – you’ll be able to track orders on the Rockgas app or online customer portal on our website, so you’ll know how long you usually have between orders.

Have the email address you have against your Rockgas account. If you are unsure call us on 0800 762 542 and we’ll help you out.

Have your customer number ready (you’ll find it on your invoice).

Tap Forgot password and we’ll email you a verification code. Pop that in, and you’ll be able to set a new password.

Nope, you don’t need to be home. Just make sure any dogs are safely inside or behind a fence, clear access ways, and that any gates are unlocked or provided us with the gate codes, so our driver can access your bottles.

Safety comes first. If your property has steep driveways, long stairs or tricky access, we may not be able to deliver. It has to be safe for our drivers. Our minimum delivery standards can be found here Minimum delivery standards.pdf.

Paying is easy:

Credit card: Use the Rockgas app, the online customer portal on our website, or call 0800 762 542 and follow the prompts.

Internet banking: Use our BNZ account – 02-0544-0241419-000. Please include your customer account number as the reference.

Direct debit: Download the Direct Debit form from our website, fill it out and email it to lpgenquiries@rockgas.co.nz.
