Hospitality is a key part of Kiwi culture. Call it good natured or just being a sucker for impromptu house guests, it’s easy to find your home bursting at the seams when family, friends and friends-of-friends drop by for “just a night or two.”
And funny thing, the closer you live to a beach or lake, the more visitors you seem to have.
Now having plenty of company around the dining table is great, but after a few days of summer activities, you’ll want to make sure everyone is hitting the shower on the daily… and if your houseguests are teenage boys, that might not be that easy!
Next problem: making sure you have enough hot water. And that’s where Rockgas LPG comes in.
LPG is tailor-made for the long hot shower. As a home energy source, there’s heaps of it. It doesn’t rely on the rain or the weather and there’s no shortage of it globally. Kiwis have relied on Rockgas since 1934. Every year since then, every ice-cold winter or where-did-that-rain-come-from summer, we’ve continued to deliver.
It’s why many Kiwi homes and businesses use bottled LPG to cook, heat and look after their hot water. The choice of water heating appliances is another plus. An LPG hot water system keeps a heap of hot water on hand, ready to go. For instant hot water, a continuous flow hot water system is a good choice as it takes up much less space and isn’t heating water you’re not using.

Avoiding the mid-shower freezies.
No one wants that relaxing hot shower to turn into an icy surprise! That’s why Rockgas LPG setups have LPG consistently heating the water, so you don’t have to wait for it heat up no matter how many people are using the shower. Your LPG is stored in big 45kg bottles, which are attached to an outside wall of your house and feed whatever gas appliances you have inside.
Here’s the clever bit though: you’ll always have TWO bottles, both connected to the same setup via a valve called a regulator. All you have to do for endless showers, no matter how many houseguests, is to keep an eye on the bottle supplying your home. When the indicator tells you it’s about to run out, flip the switch to change supply to the full bottle, then order a replacement. That’s your summer houseguest shower problems sorted! Now if you can just get them to clean up after themselves…
